Gentek Siding Problems Lawsuit
Problems with Gentek siding have property owners seeking answers - as well as legal recourse. According to numerous complaints from homeowners, the focus of the complaints concerns premature cracking, chipping, splitting and peeling associated with Gentek aluminum and steel siding.
Homeowners initially sought assistance from the siding's manufacturer, Gentek Building Products. So far, however, many homeowners have been dissatisfied with Gentek's response. Instead of honoring the product's warranty, which states that Gentek will repair, replace or, in the case of siding sold in 1995 and thereafter, refinish the siding, the company has offered homeowners only a small monetary payment. In addition, Gentek has given homeowners with siding issues the option of having the affected area repainted.
Both responses are unsatisfactory. The monetary sum suggested by Gentek is typically far less than the cost necessary to make the siding conform to the original contract and, more important, significantly less than Gentek's liability under the product's warranty.
Maddox Hargett & Caruso has already filed a lawsuit on behalf of homeowners who've experienced issues with Gentek siding. You can view the Complaint here.
Compounding the problem is that many homeowners are asked to provide an original receipt or signed warranty in order to have their warranty claim approved. We believe this requirement is unreasonable, and have filed a second lawsuit to address this issue. You can view the Complaint here.
Moving forward, we are continuing to gather evidence regarding the alleged manufacturing defects. If you have a story to tell about this particular Gentek product, please complete the form below or contact us.†
